This is interesting. The site's kind of goofy but it's interesting info and it's kind of funny too.
I guess there's a biological reason for people to cut you off in traffic and not hold the door for you and not care when 50,000 people die until they find out one of them was from their hometown. Ooooooo.
I'll take a troupe of 50 monkeys instead please. People stink.
Someone on the radio just said that they weren't going to let themselves be "exploitated."
Oops. Not a word. Try finishing high school.
This doesn't seem to be working for me for some reason, though Rob says it works for him.
Is this going to work?
Not surprising to many of you, I'm sure. But I'm a little (OK, only a little) surprised that he'd go on TV and announce that he thinks we should assassinate a world leader. First of all, I think we all know that we're not allowed to do that. (I know, it doesn't mean we necessarily wouldn't, because who knows, but it's certainly not a policy that is endorsed.) Secondly, people's hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me.
Here are some verses from the book Robertson is supposed to know so well that I think he needs to re-read:
Psalm 34:14:
"Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it."
Luke 6:31:
"Do to others what you would have them do to you."
John 8:7:
"But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them, 'He who is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.'"
Gee, Pat Robertson, you must believe you are beyond reproach yourself, wish that someone would assassinate you, and believe that the best way to pursue peace is by killing the leaders of countries. I'm sure right afterwards, his country would be plunged into a lasting peace and everyone would join hands and sing Kumbayah.
Hey, I might make comments about people who deserve to be killed and maybe the guy he's talking about does, but I try not to be a hypocrite by also calling myself a church leader and announcing my assassination reccomendations on my evangelistic TV show. What a ridiculous jackass.
Thanks to our wonderfully intelligent president, we are now having debates about what should be taught in schools in science class... science, pseudo-religi-science, or religion. What I would like to say first is that as far as I can tell, everyone involved needs a lesson in statistics and probability. I'm listening to NPR and everyone on the program keeps mentioning how improbable or unlikely it is that the universe would work out just right as to be able to support life on earth. OK, but the fact that there is life on earth doesn't make that possibility any more significant or important than the billions of other possible outcomes that don't result in human existence. It only makes it more important to us.
In other words, if you rolled 6 die and they happened to land as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, that would seem amazing to you - "what are the chances that this would happen?" you would think. Well, it's exactly as likely that they would appear as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 as it is that they would appear as 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 or 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 or 3, 5, 2, 1, 6, 6... the die don't "know" about the relationship the numbers have with each other. It only seems amazing because to you, it means something.
Hey, I know science is amazing. The complexity of life on earth is interesting, fascinating, there are new things to learn every day, etc. I'm not arguing with that. What I am saying is that in terms of how or why we got here, human life, and life on earth, only seems amazing to us. It's not amazing to the universe.
Here's what got me started on this. Maybe I need to listen to NPR a little less.
OK, maybe I should listen to NPR less, but just now on the radio they're talking about kids joining the military or something and they are talking to this 18-year-old girl at basic training somewhere and her quote goes something like this:
"Well, ever since 9-11, that made me really mad, and ever since then I've always wanted to do this, to help the United States."
After basic training they're sending her to learn signal controls which means radio and GPS stuff. Um, I think maybe she should just stick with something simple and non-critical like filling the gas tanks of military vehicles, or delivering mail or something. I mean, how dumb are high school graduates now? She sounds like a 5 year old.
I don't know how well I'm explaining my point, which is, I guess, that this girl sounded really dumb. I think we have a major problem in this country. I don't know if it's reversible.
Thanks for stopping by!

Really?
Thanks, very nice of you.
