Some recent photos

Rob posted some recent photos on his Flickr site - check them out.

I'm thinking I might upgrade to a Pro Flickr account myself because it's only like $24 a year or something and it means unlimited storage, unlimited numbers of organized sets you can create, etc. We'll see, but if so I'll be throwing up a lot more photos soon.

Hey dummies at Fox...

Maybe Greg LeMond is talking about Tyler Hamilton denying, not Lance Armstrong. Since Landis had a positive test result and Hamilton had a positive test result then came up with all kinds of crazy stories for years, while Armstrong never had a positive test, just rumors.

Obviously I don't know who he's talking about without him saying so but it seems like a more obvious reference to Tyler Hamilton and like the person writing this article was a little dumb.

Not important maybe but, funny as hell

This site cracks me up, and that example in particular because I have had the hypothetical seeing the girl with her thong and ass hanging out experience far far too many times in the last few years and the ladies at Fug Yourself are so dead on here.

Seriously people, put the thong away. And please be aware of when your parts are hanging out.

Dog mascot for Fairmont Copley Plaza

Did you know that this hotel has a black lab as a mascot? She now lives at the hotel (goes home with a concierge at night) and is a big hit with all the guests. I think it's sweet. Plus I'll always have a soft spot for a Labrador.

Phylbert at sea

Check out my dad's photos from the cruise he and my mom went on with my Aunt Judy & Uncle John and Uncle Cliff & Aunt Joyce (Cliff and Judy are my mom's brother and sister). Looks like a fun time! But, that's not enough photos, Keyrock. There aren't even any of Uncle Cliff!

Personality

During my school days, some of us somewhat obsessively took various personality tests, thanks to a certain psych major. My very favorite of all time is the Meyers-Briggs. I am an INFP, as is my friend Sheilagh (we are also both super-geniuses, but that's a story for another day) - which caused us to do highly upsetting things like come racing into the livingroom to interrupt other friends' studying, announcing "the INFP sisters are here!".

Here are some particularly true points, I think:

INFPs do not like conflict, and go to great lengths to avoid it. If they must face it, they will always approach it from the perspective of their feelings. In conflict situations, INFPs place little importance on who is right and who is wrong. They focus on the way that the conflict makes them feel, and indeed don't really care whether or not they're right. They don't want to feel badly. This trait sometimes makes them appear irrational and illogical in conflict situations.

Um, if you know me, you probably have an example of this.

INFPs are flexible and laid-back, until one of their values is violated. In the face of their value system being threatened, INFPs can become aggressive defenders, fighting passionately for their cause.

Yeah, I can get a little testy when something I think is important is violated or broken - a rule, a law, a personal pet peeve...

INFPs have very high standards and are perfectionists. Consequently, they are usually hard on themselves, and don't give themselves enough credit. INFPs may have problems working on a project in a group, because their standards are likely to be higher than other members' of the group. In group situations, they may have a "control" problem.

Um, yeah, because in a group, basically everyone else is an idiot. Especially if it's for some horrible group work at school. God, I hated that.

Don't worry, there are nice things too:

INFPs, more than other iNtuitive Feeling types, are focused on making the world a better place for people.

Except the aforementioned idiots and anyone who violates my rules.

Generally thoughtful and considerate, INFPs are good listeners and put people at ease. Although they may be reserved in expressing emotion, they have a very deep well of caring and are genuinely interested in understanding people. This sincerity is sensed by others, making the INFP a valued friend and confidante. An INFP can be quite warm with people he or she knows well.

INFPs make very good mediators, and are typically good at solving other people's conflicts, because they intuitively understand people's perspectives and feelings, and genuinely want to help them.

Anyway, I love this stuff. I can't help myself.

Men of the world

Please, please, I beg of you: no more pleated pants. Not with suits. Not on shorts. Not on chinos. Most definitely not on jeans. I promise you that you will look better in flat front pants. I solemnly swear it.

Please tell me this is true

Is it really going to be in the seventies for a week? Because I might die from joy.

Why does it always rain on me?

I need someone to tell me how to fix my life.

Now I'm not saying everything needs to be perfect all the time of course, but why can we never catch up with our chores?

Why is there never time to do the stuff we need to do much less the stuff we want to do?

Why does it always seem like we have to choose between eating dinner at a reasonable time or having a clean living room?

Or between going grocery shopping and going to bed before midnight?

Or between watching an hour of TV and balancing the checkbook?

Seriously, are we the only ones who feel like this, or is this something everyone has to deal with and they just hide it when you come over for tea?

Is it because our society is totally f-d up? Is it because every household needs 2.5 incomes just to support two adults without any kids?

Give me the days when one person worked and the other stayed home. I'll even be the one who works, I don't care. I just need to make at least twice as much. Or everything needs to cost half as much, I'll take either scenario.

One thing is for sure, unless I become a millionaire, I'm not having any kids to pass this crisis on to.

For your kitty cat

Hey, look at this cool stuff for kitties. I know a certain kitty whose name begins with "E" and ends with "mily" who would love having that barrel up out of doggie reach on the wall in our apartment!

I think the birds are a funny idea and the mice are cute too.

Bizarre

In the category of Almost Completely Useless Suggestions, please file this.

I think if you pass out drunk on the street you have much bigger problems than whether your skirt is riding up. But that's just my opinion.

Trading up

Dude, why does everybody think of everything before me?

I'll trade something. I have useless stuff to trade. Actually, less than I used to because our recent moves have made us get rid of a lot of that crap. But I'm sure I could rustle up something as valuable as a red paper clip.

Rejuveniles

Why are adults attracted to kid stuff? Because it's fun!

At least, it was when I was a kid - I don't know if I'd want to be a kid today.

Massachusetts Family Institute

Your name is a hypocrisy. Go fuck yourselves you fucking fucks. As I am known to say.

Oops, Big Dig not so safe...

I don't think I feel like driving through this tunnel anytime soon. Not exactly confidence inspiring.

I am totally addicted to this blog - Joy Unexpected. The author is a mom to 3 with all kinds of adventures in everything from aerobic dancing and doing the worm at weddings to battling her kids at Guitar Hero.

Boston, be nice.

Here is an interesting article about how Boston is finally getting conventions coming to the new convention center, but a lot of people the visitors run into in the service industry in the city are being complete assholes, per the typical Boston "hospitality".

Listen, I'm as sick of all you stupid bastards who live and work here as the next person, let's acknowledge that we all hate each other, but when you work in the service industry you really have to have a modicum of pleasantness, otherwise please go do something else like work in a meat-packing plant.

It is very noticeable to me that when I travel anywhere outside of Boston people I deal with in restaurants, grocery stores, airports, cabs, etc., etc., etc., are so much more pleasant and helpful that it's amazing.

Honestly, if this city wants tourists, everybody needs to take their nice pills and calm the hell down.

Maybe you should sign the smile pledge.

Lady Liberty Loves Jesus

Because I broke my blog last week, Hashbrown beat me to posting about this. But thanks to my brother Brian, I already knew all about it.

If I may, I'd like to quote Brian here, as we were just discussing it again today.:

Here's my favorite part of that article:

"This statue proves that Jesus Christ is Lord over America, he is Lord over Tennessee, he is Lord over Memphis."

Yes... that's exactly what it proves. It doesn't prove that a bunch of fucking morons have too much money.

Well said, sir.

And let it be noted that this is one of those crazy made-up southern churches with like 12,000 members and a very "charismatic" leader. I like to call them "cults".

For the original link Brian sent me, see here. The video is a must-watch.

Thanks for stopping by!

Buy Me Stuff

Really?

Thanks, very nice of you.

First, check my

Amazon.com wishlist

and there's no need to worry that I already have it or won't use it.

Tip: Check around for better pricing. Amazon's pricing is usually good, but not always the best available.

A quick Froogle search can't hurt.
