I disagree, Wired. Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, etc., can be fun, but they don't let you personalize anything or control your content.
The reasons they give for abandoning your blog include the fact that if someone does a search for Barack Obama your clever blog post won't be in the top search results. I don't expect it to be. But I never would. I expect people to find my blog from other people's blogs not because I'm the top search result for anything (other than my own name). If that was my goal I might as well have given up as soon as I started.
By the way, just based on the search results that lead people to my blog, robreed's blog and Heather Rose's blog, I wouldn't count on the fact that something needs to be a top search result to think that's the only way someone will find your blog. For pete's sake, I think Rob has had search results lead to his site for words like, "air" and "web". I'm pretty sure he's not anywhere near the top search result for those words.
Anyway, take heart bloggers, don't give up. I have a feeling it's more likely things like Twitter, Flickr and Facebook will run their course to some extent. Someday I'll be writing a post entitled, "Remember Twitter? Wasn't that a cute idea?"
Good. Because here it is.
Also, please make sure you see today's video of a girl in another country's American Idol take (I know the U.S. version wasn't the original) singing a really special version of "Without You".
First of all, Sarcastic Mom is my favorite new blog.
Secondly, on Plurk she describes herself thusly:
I'm a complete and total dork and spazzwad. That about sums it up.
Oh my God, were we separated at birth?
We know, we know. We're trying to fix them. At least that's what robreed tells me.
If you read Joy Unexpected and haven't seen this yet, you really need to check out the video. And hey, even if you've never read it you still should.
Synopsis: Y and her 3 kids cover Red Hot Chili Peppers. Awesome.
Because Rob just read it out loud to me and we were both cracking up.
Warning: If you really love Stephen King, you might be offended.
There's really nothing that needs to be added to what Sarah says here.
She hit the nail on the head.
Plus, shout out to Eric Cartman, which is awesome.
Hey, robreed has a new book review you should check out! Especially if you're a big Stephen King fan.
Thanks for stopping by!

Really?
Thanks, very nice of you.
First, check my
and there's no need to worry that I already have it or won't use it.
Tip: Check around for better pricing. Amazon's pricing is usually good, but not always the best available.
A quick Froogle search can't hurt.
