Happy Administrative Professionals Day!

I read a silly article, or I guess it was an "editorial" in The Boston Metro this morning by some woman emphasizing how important the role is of administrative people in the workplace. But she picked a stupid way to do it, instead harping on the use of the word "secretary" and how she wished people weren't so keen on getting rid of the word and how it was a great word or something. I think she missed the point of everything. Anyway, it was kind of a dumb pointless article. She also made some comment about how being a secretary served her well and she has owned and run her own business, and now is a freelance writer. Then she makes some comment like she wishes she could make as much money as she did as a secretary.

Sweetheart, I don't know what kind of business you are running, but you're wasting your time if you are making less money than you did starting out as someone's assistant. And nobody's stopping you, by the way. If you'd prefer to be an assistant again, go right ahead. I guarantee places are hiring.

Anyway, my office nicely gave us all Amex gift certificates, which is cool because you can buy whatever you choose with it. Also someone bought us lunch on my floor and my boss says he owes me a lunch. All in all I'd say it was a good day. Well, I guess it's not over yet.

In any case, happy secretaries' day or whatever you want to call it, to all you admin professionals out there! If your boss forgot you this year, put a reminder in their calendar now for next year. They'll probably be glad you did.

Thanks for stopping by!

Really?

Thanks, very nice of you.

First, check my

Amazon.com wishlist

and there's no need to worry that I already have it or won't use it.

Tip: Check around for better pricing. Amazon's pricing is usually good, but not always the best available.

A quick Froogle search can't hurt.
