I Gave Blood Today!

It was my first time ever. There's a woman at work who periodically organizes blood drives where a mobile donating van/bus comes to our office and people make appointments to go out and donate. With some friends' encouragement at work, I went today and was very brave and did great, if I do say so myself. I got a little shaky when they first put the needle in to take the blood. Not because I physically felt bad, just mental. But when I was done I just sat down for a little bit having juice and cookies and waiting for Rebecca and Michelle to finish, and I was fine. Never felt faint or nauseous or anything. This was probably helped by the fact that the van was super over air conditioned. I'm sure that's intentional.

The only thing I meant to do that I kind of forgot about was ask if they could tell me my blood type. I think I have type O but I don't remember if it's positive or negative. Whatever it is, I think it's supposed to be the kind that's the "universal donor" so anyone can receive it. Though people with O can only receive O. What's that about? Thanks for nothing, stupid blood! Ha ha. Oh, and they test your iron by pricking your finger but it's with a fancy little tool that's quick and doesn't really hurt much. My iron was OK but very close to the low end of normal. 12.5-20 is normal and I was 12.8. I guess I should take some iron.

I was thinking of my poor dad a long time ago when he had to get some blood tests for something related to work or insurance or something... I don't remember what it was exactly but the person even came to our house and poor dad almost passed out. Dad, aren't you proud of me?

The first time I had to get blood taken for a test at the doctor's I felt a little faint and freaked myself out too but I survived... barely. This was much better.

Thanks for stopping by!

Really?

Thanks, very nice of you.

First, check my

Amazon.com wishlist

and there's no need to worry that I already have it or won't use it.

Tip: Check around for better pricing. Amazon's pricing is usually good, but not always the best available.

A quick Froogle search can't hurt.
