So I was previously already obsessed with Ingrid Michaelson's song "The Way I Am" (but why are there scary clowns in this video???) from yes, an Old Navy sweater commercial. Sorry, but I loved the song.
If you were falling
then I would catch you
you need a light
I'll find a match'cause I love
the way you say 'good morning'
and you take me the way I am
Anyway, so I bought it from iTunes. The other day I got an email from Borders about a performance by her at their #01 store in Ann Arbor Michigan and I clicked over and listened to it a bit.
Now my new obsession is her song "Breakable" which I also bought on iTunes. I probably will just end up buying the album.
And you fastened my seatbelt
because it is the law
in your two-ton death trap
I finally saw
a piece of love in your face
that bathed me in regret
then you drove me to places
I'll never forgetAnd we are so fragile
and our cracking bones make noise
and we are just breakable breakable breakable
girls and boys
It's very pretty, melodic music, and I like her voice a lot.
Check it out if you're interested.
For those of you who might not already know, this lady is ALL CLASS.
Holy crap, why in the world am I purposely leaving a terrible paid advertisement for some CD collection called "Flower Power" on the TV so I can hear 10 seconds of all the 70's songs? Why do I apparently not just like but love about 85% of this music? Granted, some is really terrible, but hello:
I love this stuff! It's true.
Uh-oh, 50, you might have to retire. Apparently Kanye's album is outselling yours.
Too bad you felt the need to say this in Rolling Stone:
I'm King Kong. Kanye is human. Humans run when they see King Kong, because they're scared.
But who really thinks you're going to retire?
Also, I think we're a little late to the game, but Rob and I just obsessed over this album yesterday:
The whole album is great. The songs are really catchy and they're all pretty hilarious. If you appreciate clever/funny lyrics (see the title of this post) you should really check her out.
son look at all the people in this restaurant
what do you think they weigh
now look out into the parking lot
at their SUVs taking all of the spacethey give no fuck
they talk as loud as they want
they give no fuck
just as long as there's enough for themgonna get on the microphone down at walmart
talk about some shit that's been on my mind
talk about the state of this great nation of ours
people look to your left, yeah look to your rightthey give no fuck
they buy as much as they want
they give no fuck
just as long as there's enough for themson look at the people lining up for plastic
wouldn't you like to see them in the national geographic
squatting bare-assed in the dirt eating rice from a bowl
with a towel on their head and maybe a bone in their nosesee that asshole with the peace sign on his license plate
giving me the finger and running me out of his lane
god made us number one cause he loves us the best
well he should go bless someone else for a while and give us a restthey give no fuck
yeah and everyone can see
they give no fuck
we've eaten all that we can eatBen Folds
By the way, if I haven't mentioned it strongly enough, you really really need to buy this Fratellis album. I skip almost everything else on my iPod at this point to listen to anything from this album.
You may have heard one of their songs in this iTunes ad.
Anyway, if you don't believe me, trust Charlie (see his Must List) or NPR.
I don't know the story behind why this got made, but it's a music video of Alanis Morissette performing "My Humps".
Basically you just need to watch it. With sound.
My dear Julls from my staff at ASP just sent me a little note saying she was listening to Southland in the Springtime and I just realized that I don't think I have it, which means I need to use my recently earned free iTunes songs from Avis and buy it tonight and put it on my iPod immediately!
Here's the best part:
Though I miss her when I'm gone it won't ever be too long
Till I'm home again to spend my favorite season
When God made me born a yankee he was teasin'
There's no place like home and none more pleasin'
Than the Southland in the springtime
I'm loading up my iPod because I was very sick of what was on it and now I'm listening to this song from our music library. It's the sweetest song ever. It makes my chest hurt as we used to say in college (In fact, we said it about this song a lot).
The Promise - by Tracy Chapman
If you wait for me
then I'll come for you
although I've travelled far
I always hold a place for you in my heartIf you think of me
if you miss me once in a while
then I'll return to you
I'll return and fill that space in your heartRemembering
your touch, your kiss, your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waitingIf you dream of me
like I dream of you
in a place that's warm and dark
in a place where I can feel the beating of your heartRemembering
your touch, your kiss, your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waitingOh I've longed for you
and I have desired
to see your face, your smile
to be with you wherever you areRemembering
your touch, your kiss, your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
Please say you'll be waitingTogether again
It would feel so good to be
in your arms
where all my journeys end
If you can make a promise
if it's one that you can keep
I vow to come for you
If you wait for meAnd say you'll hold
a place for me
in your heart
a place for me in your heart
a place for me in your heart
I'm a total sap, but if you are too and you haven't heard this song you really need to listen to it, because the lyrics are clearly sappy but of course it's better sung than read on a blog.
Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks, very nice of you.
First, check my

Tip: Check around for better pricing. Amazon's pricing is usually good, but not always the best available.
A quick Froogle search can't hurt.
