Sorry, but I think that Ted Kennedy has a valid point. I love how we don't think it's OK to equate rape and sadistic treatment of Iraqi prisoners by American military personnel with rape and sadistic treatment of people by Saddam Hussein. What is the difference exactly? That it was fewer people? Did the US military torment them in a nicer way? Is it better to be raped by an American?
Basically, the point is that we stooped to his level. That's the point. If you don't like his point, then I guess that just proves he's right.

I'm saying what's the difference between the actual acts. The answer is nothing. I'm not talking about the consequences, I'm just saying one person torturing someone is exactly as bad as someone else torturing someone. That's all.

What's the difference between crudely hacking off people's hands and making someone stand naked with feces smeared on his back?
Hmmmm. Those two acts are "exactly" the same?
I'll take the feces smearing for $400, Alex.

Basically, it turns out that Bruce is just an ass who is refusing to see my point and being obtuse. So I guess I'm done with this conversation.

Suit yourself. But if by "obtuse" you mean "difficult to comprehend : not clear or precise in thought or expression", I will just say that simply because you can't comprehend what I say, doesn't mean it's difficult to comprehend. And I'm not refusing to "see" your point. I'm refusing to "agree with" your point, and am merely pointing out the flaws (as I see them) in your argument.
If this affliction known as free-thinking makes me an ass, so be it. I can live with that.
As a libertarian (for the most part) I do agree with some of your other posts, but not this one.
Boston Common mentioned this post in "Stupid rightwingers; stupid leftwingers":
Kellen reads a Jeff Jacoby column calling Ted Kennedy anti-American and says call me anti-American too. ... just this morning i was venting my frustration...
