Jobs = evil capitalist and Gates = generous philanthropist?

Take that, Steve Jobs.

I feel pretty confident saying that the world would not be a better place if Apple Computer with Steve Jobs in charge had Microsoft's marketshare. On the other hand, Bill Gates is giving up a ton of money, that's one way of looking at it. Before we declare him a hero though, I'd point out that he isn't giving up anything he's going to miss. I suppose he could stockpile all of his money to the benefit of the Gateses 50 generations down the line. But there's no more benefit in that for him than flushing 90% of it down the tiolet or giving it away to charity. In any case, it's money he'll never get around to spending. You could go as far as to say that all of the money he's spending on charity is buying him something he couldn't afford in any other way. "A bone to the dog is not charity. Where did you find that? Everybody's a jerk, yes, but it is funny that Steve Job is treated like this great guy for some reason when really he doesn't do anything particularly great or generous.
